Carrie came to New Mexico in 1994 to work as an archaeologist and wildland firefighter with the US Forest Service. She later became interested in Yoga as a treatment for her chronic injuries and osteoporosis, and discovered the benefits of Yogic breathing to relieve stress. Carrie completed her 200-hour Yoga teacher certification at UNM-Taos in 2012 with Monique Parker, now director of Svastha Yoga Institute.
In 2012, Carrie was named as one of the "Remarkable Women of Taos," for her contributions in archaeology and volunteerism in the community. "Remarkable Women of Taos" was a year-long celebration of honoring outstanding historic and contemporary women of northern New Mexico, and is now a book by the amazing Liz Cunningham.
